This is one of those questions that can drive one kookabonkers. Is time an illusion? Some would say so. That we only measure time because man created it as a way of measuring. Others would say that it exists because Mother Nature shows us that in cycles. Still others say it doesn't and we are living simultaneous lives. The last one would explain why we are always so tired. One lifetime at a time is enough, don't you think?

I experienced  my own question of time this weekend. We had an engagement party for our daughter and her fiancé. Our adult daughter! I am one of those parents that celebrated their children getting older.  I've never really felt sad at the idea they were aging. Isn't that natural? The process? The expected? While I still feel this, it was surreal to be part of the festivities and celebration of her future marriage. One of the reasons being I feel like life has just begun for me so to be riding parallel to her experience of new, it was a bit confusing and amazing!

Sure, I remember the funny child she was, but she's that funny adult.  I remember that she never wanted to wake up for daycare or school but she currently works the three to eleven shift, so has anything changed there? Nope. See why it's confusing? The element of time tells me that almost twenty two years have passed, but have they really?

It feels like a blink of an eye yet I don't want to go back. I want to keep looking forward and celebrate all that life has to offer. I hold such wonder for what is ahead that I am like a kid waiting for holidays to start. This is why it feels like life is just starting. This feeling is new and I want to stretch it as far as I can!

We had a few other new things happen on the same day. Our grandson, who was one day shy of five, decided he could do his first overnight ever! In my exhaustion from the party, and his adorable reasoning, I couldn't say no. He did well. Midnight sleep time, up at seven. Nana thought time didn't exist that night! But, seriously, how do you say no to these faces?

Our dog also did his first overnight at doggie daycare. I suspect he slept more than the almost five year old.

Countless kids will begin school this week. Instead of lamenting where did the time go, show them how exciting it is to live life.  Look through that windshield and leave the rear view one for backing up your vehicle.

While it still boggles my mind that I have three grown children, four grandchildren and a mortgage, I intend to embrace my timeless self and see how much more alive I can feel each year.

We all have life force energy. The energy that powers the universe. Life force energy IS timeless. When we croak, we return to this complete life force energy and leave the body behind. We have access to this energy at all times. Sort of the fountain of youth if you will. Those that communicate their crossing process to me indicate how wonderful it feels to connect with that feeling again. I am suggesting we do that while in body by appreciating all that life has to offer, including having your youngest head down the matrimonial path!

Kaela and Kyle, I and spirit wish you the very best in all that life has to offer. You are the example of love and trust. Be yourselves and embrace that uniqueness.

I'll still be blubbering each time my kids have a milestone but the tears will be happy ones for they are doing what their life force tells them to; live life and love the process. Who am I to hold anyone in a place of what was?

Practice seeing what is in front of you this week and be amazed at how good it feels!

Heading back to the fountain,
Vicki

P.S. K and K....will you still be doing laundry at my house after the nuptials? Just wondering.  😉

"It takes courage to imagine your life different." Lindsay TF

This is one of my favorite quotes because it really does take that courage to look and see that things could be different for you. It also takes bravery, a sense of adventure and a just a little bit of silly to start making those changes that you would like to see. It is also one of my favorites because I actually know the person who said it! It isn't just a random collection of words from someone afar, it is someone I have had the pleasure of seeing grow and use that courage on many occasions.

I am seeing a lot of people lately who are digging deep into their own fears and moving forward in whatever form they would like to see their lives unfold. This is really exciting to me as a person, soul and coach. As a person it helps me to remember to look at challenges as a fun thing, as a soul it makes me happy to be part of this time in our universe and as a coach it excites me for it means we are growing as a people and I get to be a part of that! Sweet!

I said to a client yesterday that what if the feeling she was feeling wasn't doom and gloom, but rather a feeling that she was about to bloom? Using a plant as an example, they have to push through the dirt and the layers of Earth to show up and reach the sunshine. I bet that is uncomfortable at some point but the plant, knowing that stagnation is certain death, isn't going to just lay there and lament, it is going to keep reaching for that breakthrough. Nature is amazing isn't it? We are amazing aren't we? I believe so.

So, the next time you feel like you can't do something, remind yourself that you have the same innate knowing as the plant or you wouldn't have come here to learn and grow. You would have remained an inert being simply floating around the stratosphere. I, for one, am glad you decided to push through that dirt and show up and we got to be in this garden together!

Change really is a good thing. It doesn't always feel that way when you are right in the middle of it but one of the gifts of life is that there is always change. The secret is getting good with it and realizing if it is always going to be there, it may be in your best interest to embrace it.

Now, you can embrace it with the wimpy hug some people give, you can go in with gusto and squeeze the stuffing out of it, or you can greet it like a dear friend, a good squeeze with an honest to goodness happy to see you feel.

I choose the last one for the most part. I feel that if nothing is stagnant then I better be good at going with the flow and recognizing what is in front of me so I can use it to my best interest. I have learned over the years that if I go in wimpy, I freak myself out. I will over analyze, I will be in my head way too much and I will inevitably create an outcome that I really don't want. It is best to see it as an opportunity to grow and to assess where it is I still require some patience.

Recently, I decided if my business was going to grow in the direction I would like it to, I had to start making some decisions and changing how I do business. Basically, it had to grow up. It had to become a business with an intention of moving forward and it needed me to be decisive and not so go with the flow. So there is constantly tweaking in this change process I am realizing for myself.

I also had to stop worrying about how others would be when my business changes and instead be the example of that loving change with grace and humor. My current task is in hiring an assistant. Someone who could be independent in their thinking but get that when I say there is a deadline on something, I'm not kidding and I'm probably not going to hug you when it isn't met. Someone who loved what they do as much as I love what I do and would be willing to grow as my business grows. People say they want to but a lot of the time that is a platitude they are offering because they think that is what I want to hear rather than what they really want.

So, this time the change is being methodical, business oriented and clear about what I am expecting and not being willing to settle because the person is a good soul and just needs a chance. This has been my pattern in the past and it doesn't work, does it? Have you ever giving someone a job, or hung out with them or kept them in your circle because they were a good person but you didn't really align with them? I realized how condescending that was the other day. Like I was the only one that could help them? Please. They have to help themselves and want to and no amount of me wanting them to is going to get anyone anywhere.....and often the job didn't get completed so there was the universe with my cosmic 2x4 telling me, Vicki, seriously, do you want someone to do a job or do you want to offer a safe haven. Ummmmm, option number one please!

I bring this up because often our change involves others around us and the tendency is to hold back on our expectations for desires for a fantastic life while we wait for others to join us. This waiting can lead to frustration, resentment or a really nasty attitude and then who wants to hang with a person like that..except others that know you are really a good soul and they are waiting for you to show up....what a cycle we get into.

I know the person I end up working with will be a good soul, because we all are inherently, but I also know that because I looked at an old pattern and decided to change it that we will match well and not only be productive, but FUN!

Where is there a place in your life that requires some change? What could use a little cleaning up, changing up, fluffing up to where you feel like you have seen change, met change and been excited about it? If you feel some resistance to change chances are you have already grown past it and just don't want to admit it. We have a class this weekend that would help with that...if you are ready for some change.

Take one small step today to address the area you feel could use some change and then celebrate yourself for taking action. It really will feel good to do something about it instead of sitting in the what ifs of it all. THEN you can start creating the life you really want to have.

So, as I sit on my couch typing this is occurs to me I will want to have something written up as I meet with all of the applicants to remind me that I've changed....and it is for the better. :)

Viewing life with new eyes and intention,
Vicki
